Together we resist. Together we take a stand.

Together we resist. Together we take a stand for what we believe in.

At Ben & Jerry’s we believe we can no longer remain silent in the face of President Trump’s policies that attack and roll back decades of progress on racial and gender equity, climate change, LGBTQ rights, and refugee and immigrant rights – all issues that have been at the core of the company’s Social Mission for 40 years.

We have been a values-led company since the early days. When childhood friends Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield opened an ice cream company in Burlington Vermont, they wanted to create something that reflected who they were as people, including the values that they stood for. This means using the power of our business to advance human rights and dignity, to seek social and environmental justice for those who have been historically marginalized, and to protect our environment.

“It's good to stand for something, to believe in something and base your business on values.” – Jerry Greenfield

For the last 40 years we have been guided by these same values. We’ve baked them into our ice creams by sourcing from social enterprises like Greyston Bakery, where producing tasty brownies is part of a greater mission to provide jobs and training to low-income residents of Yonkers, New York. We’re fully Fairtrade certified, because we believe everyone deserves their fair share. We also work with activists, campaigners and NGO partners to champion a world where racism has no home, love is love, refugees are welcome and, when it comes to our planet, “if it’s melted it’s ruined”.

Why not stay silent?

Today, we sit at a pivotal moment in modern history. When so much is at stake, and our values are being challenged by Trump’s regressive agenda, it is important to resist and to speak out; to consciously choose not to be complicit in the normalization of fear, bigotry and hate by remaining silent.

Bringing a new flavour: Pecan Resist

In support of the activists and organisations leading the resistance to the Trump administration, Ben & Jerry’s is introducing a new limited-edition ice cream flavour to our fans in the US: Pecan Resist. Pecan Resist will support four groups and movements in the US: Color of Change, Honor the Earth, Women’s March and Neta. Ben & Jerry’s is donating proceeds from the flavour to each organization and encouraging fans to support their work.

“We couldn’t be prouder or more excited to support these four organizations that are doing incredible work every day,” said Ben & Jerry’s new CEO Matthew McCarthy. “Our goal is to use our company’s voice, our ice cream, and our activism to encourage everyone to support and help build these movements which counter the current regressive agenda. We think it’s more important now than ever that citizens and businesses alike stand up and be counted.”

Join in

In Australia and New Zealand we are working with local partners to build movements that demand that politicians and policymakers take steps to transition to 100% renewable energy, end funding for fossil-fuel projects and infrastructure, and protect us from the devastating effects of climate change.

Because together, we can resist.
